Reigning junior world road champion Diego Ulissi of Italy has  repeated his success from last year in Belgium.

In a show of brute strength from the Italian team, Ulissi finished ahead of Daniele Ratto and Elia Favilli. The three broke away with Peter Sagon of Slovakia to set up the winning move.

Ulissi, who rides for the Lampre junior team Vangi, dominated the race, showing up his more fancied rivals. The course suited both Ratto and Favili, both noted climbers, but Ulissi proved the strongest today.

IMG_0062Australia’s Travis Meyer proved that he still had the legs to mix it  with the world’s best by leading the main peloton home to finish in 10th. Meyer had done a lot of work through out the race, but couldn’t stop the boys in blue.

Tim Guy from Orange rode well to finish in the top 30. Surprisingly, junior world team pursuit champion Jack Bobridge failed to finish along with Rohan Dennis.
