Muswellbrook CC hosted the 160km Explorer Road Classic on Sunday featuring perfect weather with not a breath of wind and goo. The classic road event toured the Upper Hunter visiting the edge of Scone and sprinting through the town of Merriwa before returning to Muswellbrook via Sandy Hollow and Wybong.
FRF NSWIS won the Teams division with Chris Jory riding away from division 1 on the final hill of the day. Kent Nash broke free from the field to finish 2nd with Time Trial specialist Peter Milostic claimed third in front of the bunch sprint. The first 6 places of B grade finished with the A grade peloton with the B grade
Division 2 was dominated by a break that attacked at 9km. The group of Vikki Whitelaw, Spencer Flugge and Eugen Shilter cover all 3 grades in division 2 and finished 13 minutes in front of the large chase group, which finished in a bunch gallop won by Tom Norris of Manning Valley.
