The 2007 Victorian Metropolitan Championships have been run and won, in perfect “Australian” road season conditions, cool with a light breeze straight off the snow capped mountains with grey skies but no rain.
These conditions test even the best cyclists resolve to adhere to their warm up routine and luckily for most the first 5km was under control, the Pastoria circuit is a great circuit for Championship cycling and the course was “playing under par” on the day with no winds to contend with. Many will attest to the difficulty of the course when the wind is blowing hard out the back on the Baynton road.
The chips were hot and the hot chocolate was delicious at the BP.
Everyone was entertained by the various antics on display, ranging from stunt truck driving to a crusty old demon trying to stay with the boys getting motor paced.
Thanks to all who helped out on the day, especially Sheryl Vicino who came up even though her son Josh was playing football and Hayden Vigor, Matt & Ben Ladner and Chris Steffanoni who chose lend a hand on the corners rather than race.
