Tolhurst wins Time Trial to break Peter Milostic’s 6 year long hold on the NSW ITT Championship

Michael Tolhurst (Canberra CC) rode a time just over the hour at Calga on Sunday to break Peter Milostic’s 6 year run of NSW ITT Championship wins. Tolhurst rode 1hr 00 and 17 second, with Peter Milostic 22 second behind in 1hr 00 and 39 seconds. Robert Hodgeson finished 3rd in 1hr 01, 17secondsThe weather for the event was perfect with almost no wind and a comfortable temperature all day providing for great conditions to race the clock. Tolhurst, a member of Team Velo Canberra has shown that he is in good form in the for the classic road races at the end of the road season and will give Peter McDonald (FRF – NSWIS) and Rob McLachlan (Drapac Porsche) some competition in this year’s Grafton to Inverell followed by the Goulburn to Sydney.

In the Junior Men 19, Joseph Lewis (Cycle Fitness Nutrition) rode an impressive 29.42 to win the division by more than 2 minutes from fellow Novacastrian Olsen Garland (Active Cycles). Lewis leaves for Holland this week where he hopes to gain a deeper experience of racing and to build on the great form he has shown early in the road season after finishing 10th in the Blayney to Bathurst.

2006 winner Katie Jones (Northern Sydney CC) finished 15 seconds faster than Real Aussie Kids Rider Lauren Kitchen in the Junior Women U19. Ashlee Ankudinoff  of St George  finished 3rd with Chey Howard competing for the first time since the 2006 Youth Olympics in Sydney last October.

FRF-NSWIS rider Robert Cater continued his good form to win Gold in the Under 23 category. Robert had a solid ride finishing 4min 11 faster than team mate Anthony Bennett. The UCI Continental team FRF NSWIS leave for China on the 9th of July to compete in Tour of Qinghai Lake (UCI 2.HC race) starting on 14 July in North West China, for altitude conditioning between 1770 and 3880 meters for the 9 day race.

Elite Women was contested by a strong field of riders with interstate riders taking Gold and Silver. won by Canberra and ACTAS rider Vikki Whitelaw won Gold finishing 52 seconds infront of Brunswick CC and Drapac Porsche rider Bridie O’Donnell. NSWIS rider Amanda Spratt finished in 32.43 to win bronze.
